Pedagogy

Give your child the gift of an excellent bilingual education in a modern, caring environment.

A learner-centered approach

At My First Academy, our primary mission is to help children become fully bilingual in French and English.
From an early age, we encourage independence — learning to navigate their environment, express themselves, complete tasks, and take initiative on their own.
A child who learns to be autonomous blossoms more quickly than one who is constantly assisted.

LEARN, LISTEN, UNDERSTAND, GROW… AND GROW TOGETHER!

A balanced and structured curriculum

Drapeau français

French

In the mornings, students follow the French national curriculum, with lessons taught in French.
Core subjects are approached in a progressive and interactive way to support steady development.

Our teaching methods place strong emphasis on reading, writing, mathematics, and general knowledge, while fostering curiosity and critical thinking.

Learning is enriched through the use of digital tools, reading workshops, and collaborative projects — ensuring an engaging and effective educational experience.

Drapeau anglais

English

In the afternoons, students learn English with native or fluent-level teachers, following the internationally recognized Cambridge curriculum.

They develop their language skills through dynamic lessons and role-playing activities, helping them express themselves fluently and naturally.

English is also integrated into daily activities — such as games, theatre, discussions, and hands-on workshops — to promote natural and progressive language acquisition.

Bilingual immersion: a key asset for the future

The early years of life are critical for language acquisition, as young children naturally absorb a second language much more easily than teenagers or adults.

Early bilingual learning stimulates cognitive development, nurtures open-mindedness, and sharpens listening skills — making it easier to learn additional languages later on.

Bilingualism lays the foundation for multilingualism: a child accustomed to switching between two languages will more easily develop a third, or even a fourth.
In today’s globalized world, mastering English is a major asset for both academic success and future career opportunities.

Contrary to common misconceptions, immersion in English does not hinder the learning of French.
Studies show that bilingual students perform as well as — or even better than — those following a traditional monolingual curriculum.

Early exposure to languages is a unique opportunity to build strong, lasting skills and to develop a broader, more open view of the world.

Well-rounded educational activities

We offer a wide range of afternoon activities throughout the year, allowing children to enjoy both learning and leisure as part of their daily routine.

These activities are also designed to make life easier for parents — no need to rush from place to place, as everything takes place on school premises.

Some activities run throughout the school year, while others are offered on a short-term basis, depending on the availability of external instructors.

All sessions are led by qualified professionals, under the supervision of the school management, which ensures the safety and quality of each activity.

Activities are conducted in both French and English, depending on the context.

School year highlights

At My First Academy, we place great importance on celebrating key events throughout the year.

Whether French or American, these celebrations are an integral part of school life. The school is decorated to reflect each occasion — Halloween, Thanksgiving, Christmas, Easter, and more.

Children take part in themed arts and crafts, while the teaching team leads workshops and activities to help them understand the origins and meaning of these traditions.

The three main events of the year are:

Christmas à My First Academy

"Christmas"

This festive event takes place in December, just before the school holidays.
The entire school is transformed into a magical, storybook setting — bringing joy and wonder to children and adults alike.

The children present a Christmas-themed performance, which may take the form of a show, a play, a Christmas market, or a simple holiday party!

Parents are kindly asked to contribute to help cover the event’s costs (stage, tents, gifts, costumes, buffet, etc.).

A magical celebration not to be missed!

Carnaval à My First Academy

"Carnaval"

A must-see event on our beautiful island!

To mark the occasion, the school organizes a parade, a contest, or a festive celebration.
Each year, a theme is announced in January, and every child is invited to create their own costume.

Costume-making may take place with or without the presence of parents, depending on the organization set by the school’s management.

A colorful and joyful moment that brings the whole school community together!

End Year Show à my first academy

"End-of-Year Show"

Held in June, just before the summer holidays, this special event celebrates the end of the school year.

Each class presents a performance based on a chosen theme — a wonderful opportunity for students to express themselves on stage and share what they’ve learned.

Parents are kindly asked to contribute to help cover the event’s costs.

Join us for this joyful end-of-year celebration!
